Israel’s delegation made a remarkable debut at the recent Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, Germany. There it proudly joined the ranks of 21 nations competing in the biennial event that showcases the resilient spirit of injured and disabled veterans. Its performance was nothing short of spectacular, with Israel’s athletes clinching an impressive 14 medals.

The Israeli team was comprised entirely of Beit Halochem members. Nineteen determined athletes, between the ages of 24 and 68, competed in 10 adaptive sports, including swimming, cycling, archery, table tennis, hand-cycling, and indoor rowing. Each had the unwavering support of their dedicated coaches and training staff at state-of-the-art Beit Halochem Centres across Israel.

Shali Shalom Zanzuri, an injured veteran turned competitive swimmer, shared his experience: “Invictus has been absolutely amazing. I have made friends for life and people from all over the world have been cheering us on.”
