EXCLUSIVE BEIT HALOCHEM MISSION HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Commemorate Israel’s fallen at the official Yom Hazikaron (Memorial Day) ceremony at the Western Wall with Israel’s President, the Chief of General Staff, and bereaved families. Experience a guided tour of the monumental National Remembrance Hall
  • Celebrate Israel’s 75th anniversary – participate in the prestigious Yom Ha’atzmaut (Independence Day) torch-lighting ceremony and celebrations at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, with Israel’s President, Knesset Chairman, MKs, senior military, and political dignitaries
  • Tour the Yom Kippur War’s Valley of Tears, site of the Golan Heights battle that stopped Syrian troops from reaching Israel, with Hero Ret. Gen. Avigdor Kahalani, disabled veteran and Beit Halochem member
  • Visit the Tel Saki bunker, site of one of the Yom Kippur War’s most pivotal battles, and meet the hero whose surrender to the Syrians saved the lives of the 28 in the bunker
  • Briefing with Major General (res.) Elyezer Shkedy, former IAF Commander
  • Lecture and Q&A with former Mossad Director Tamir Pardo
  • VIP visit to Hatzerim Israel Air Force Base and meeting with its pilots
  • Tour along the border fence of the Gaza Strip. Observation point from a border outpost and visit a Hamas assault tunnel
  • Attend exclusive briefings with Israel’s leading policy-makers, senior security experts, and MFA’s high-level officials on the challenges facing the State of Israel
  • Explore Jerusalem’s Mabat 2000, as well as Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Palmach Museum / Rabin Museum, Caesarea, and the Golan Heights.

SUNDAY APRIL 23:  We begin our Mission at the immersive Palmach Museum / Rabin Museum in Tel Aviv which tells the story of the Haganah’s elite fighting force. Discover the new ANU Museum which looks at the multi-faceted, rich, and multi-layered culture of the Jewish people. The Mission’s official opening includes an interactive introduction to Beit Halochem Tel Aviv and a festive dinner with Beit Halochem members. (B, L, D)

MONDAY APRIL 24: Journey to Jerusalem and onto Ammunition Hill, site of one of the Six-Day War’s most significant battles to reunify the City of Jerusalem. In Jerusalem, we will see leading-edge security techniques at work at Mabat 2000 (the Israel Police’s Control & Defence System for the Old City). Visit Beit Halochem Jerusalem’s outstanding rehabilitation facilities before attending the official Yom Hazikaron ceremony at the Western Wall in the presence of Israel’s President. (B, L, D)

TUESDAY APRIL 25: Travel to Yad Vashem, Israel’s official memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. Visit Ein Karem, a charming hillside village famed for its centuries-old holy sites. Attend Israel’s official Yom Ha’atzmaut (Independence Day) celebrations and torch-lighting ceremony at Mount Herzl attended by Israel’s most distinguished dignitaries. Enjoy additional celebrations well into the night in Tel Aviv. (B, L, D)

WEDNESDAY APRIL 26: Continue Independence Day celebrations by watching the Israeli Air Force flyover. Marvel at the spectacular ruins of Caesarea. We will enjoy dinner overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. (B, L, D)

THURSDAY, APRIL 27: Tour the border fence of the Gaza Strip and see an observation outpost, as well as a Hamas assault tunnel. VIP visit to Hatzerim Israel Air Force Base and meet with its pilots. Around a campfire, we will be inspired by the stories of members of Achiad, the PTSD support group founded and funded by Beit Halochem Canada. (B,L,D)

FRIDAY, APRIL 28: Shop at Tel Aviv’s vibrant Nachlat Binyamin Market to pick up unique hand-made pieces by local Israeli artists, explore Carmel Market, Neve Tzedek neighbourhood, and Rothschild Boulevard and discover Jaffa, the world’s oldest port. We will enjoy a beautiful Shabbat dinner. (B, D)

SATURDAY, APRIL 29: An optional trip to Dead Sea and Masada. Otherwise, a free day to enjoy on your own before we enjoy a festive closing dinner overlooking the Tel Aviv-Jaffa coastline. (B, D)

SUNDAY, APRIL 30: Head north to the Golan Heights to tour the Yom Kippur War’s Valley of Tears battlefield in the company of one of Israel’s most decorated military personnel and Beit Halochem member, Hero Ret. Gen. Avigdor Kahalani. Lunch at Kibbutz Ortal and a delicious wine-tasting at Tel Shifron Winery. Visit the Tel Saki bunker, on the site of one of the Yom Kippur War’s most pivotal battles. (B, L)
